August Belmont Jr, (Feb 18, 1853 – Dec 10, 1924) founded the Interborough Rapid Transit Company in 1902 to help finance the construction of and operate New York City's first underground rapid transit line. He served as president and chairman of the IRT. His father, August Belmont, Sr. (Dec 8, 1813 – Nov 24, 1890) was an owner and Director of the Jerome Park Racetrack.

Jerome Park RR 1893 map showing the RR ROW traversing Mosholu Parkway. Public School #8, East of Briggs Ave, was one of the earliest public structures in the area. The school overlooked the RR ROW.

This freight siding in in back of the 52nd Precinct on Webster Ave was the last remnant of the Jerome Park RR and remained active until the siding was removed in the 1970's. The junction and ROW curved to the West, as indicated by the shape of the building on the left. The 3rd Ave El structure over Webster Ave is in the distance as seen from the second Mosholu Parkway bridge was built to replace the original, but never put in use.

The back plate contains the race schedule and information and routes to the park. The most direct route is via the New York & Harlem River RR. August Belmont is president of the racetrack.
